The North Sea island of Sylt is connected to the mainland by the Hindenburgdamm causeway. Trains transporting passengers and cars run over this causeway. The number 2 bus to the youth hostel runs from Westerland station to the "Dikjen Deel" stop. The hostel is on the southern outskirts of Westerland, right on the beach and a 45-minute walk from Westerland town centre.
The modern youth hostel is in the middle of the dunes. 114 beds in rooms with 2 to 8 beds, many with shower/toilet, rooms for carers/supervisors with shower/toilet, dining room, common room, WLAN, a TV room, coin-operated washing machine, beach volleyball, basketball, small playground, beach for young people. The hostel also has a group campsite with 150 beds in tents housing 8 people with beds, wooden floors and sanitary facilities, dining and common rooms. It is open from June to September. Group leaders stay in tents with separate shower/toilet. In the summer months, 70 places for underage campers with their own tents are also available.

You can't get any closer to the sea! Only a few metres away from the campsite, the sandy beach stretches out right before your eyes. For water enthusiasts, Sylt is one of the most popular surfing spots in the world. This is why it is host to the Windsurf World Cup. Fun on the beach with activities for everyone such as beach volleyball players, basketball fans and yoga lovers - there's plenty of variety on offer here. Westerland is the "capital" in the middle of the North Sea island. The pedestrian area has many unique shops, cafes and souvenir stalls. Sylt Aquarium and the Sylter Welle leisure pool in Westerland are worth a visit.
